Bamboo House Restaurant in Charlottesville

This spot is the one I like best. I eat in a lot of restaurants but to this one I go the most. The team is very warm and the food they offer is so flavorful. I am always happy to have a decent meal here. Highly recommended.

Owner is a hardworking Korean woman. She recommended Bulgogi which is really tasty! The small side dishes are complementary!

Delicious take out. We ordered japchae, bibimbop, seafood pancake, and veggie dumplings. They gave us some additional sides and sauces, and it was all fantastic. We ended up with so much food! Easy take out and super nice owners.

I have had dinner here many times growing up with my family. For someone who was born in korea I must say the food is amazing !!! The kimchi is always amazing, The family is the sweetest and nicest people you will ever meet. They always treat you like family here and cook with there heart !

Don't judge this place from the outside. The inside is also dated; but clean. The food is fantastic. At least the Korean portion of the menu. The hot and spicy soup was loaded with filling. The beef bulgogi was really good with a nice subtle sweet flavor. The bibimap was good although it did not come in a hot bowl, at least that's the way I remember it being served in Korea. Just like Korea; free kimchi and vegetables as a side if you order off the Korean menu. Pleasantly surprised and will definitely return.

Best Korean food in the middle of nowhere. Sweetest little old lady running the place. Don't let the odd outside look fool you, this food is amazing.

When we pulled up it looked closed, no open sign or anything. We went inside and it was empty. Checked online and said they were open. Went back inside and this lovely lady came out of the back.We ordered the beef and pork bulgolgi and they were fantastic! Glad we stuck around and didn't run away. I've been to Korea twice and this place brought back memories.Would definitely go again.

WHO'S GRAMMA IS THIS?! BECAUSE THIS PLACE WAS DELICIOUS. Excellent Korean food, don't let the outside fool you. The place is super clean inside. We tried the short ribs, pork bulgogi, bibimbap, and kimchi. YUM. Homemade. Wish we tried this place earlier!

Best Korean food in Charlottesville. Reasonable price and generous portion. The decoration are very unique though.

So I give this place a five star... get passed the look of the building and she only offers water, hot tea and soda ... we have eaten a lot of Korean food all over Virginia and other states , this was the best we have ever eaten. The flavors were amazing and the service was awesome! Definitely need to try

Best hot and sour soup I've ever had. Excellent tempura. Korean beef dishes were fabulous. Great food and quiet atmosphere.

This place is great! It might look like a... um... a questionable establishment from the inside but the unique ambience is overshadowed by the delicious food and there is plenty of it! Very much worth a stop if you were hiking in Shenandoah or visiting Charlottesville. And will self-service tea, how can you go wrong?

1st time 4 Korean. Tried alot of different items n loved them all. 😋 yummy Only gave a 4 cause only 1 person was doing everything. No other employees. Long wait but all was delicious.

The absolute best Korean meal that I have ever had, and I have been to many, in different states. The food was so fresh and perfectly seasoned. The portion size was more than expected for the price too. The woman who works there was so kind and helpful. When visiting Charlottesville, I will be sure to stop by every time.

DELICIOUS!!! The restaurant doesn't look like much on the outside, but the inside is super clean and the food is incredible!! This 70 year old lady sat us, took our order, cooked our food, and also served it. We had the Pork Bulgogi, Bibimbap, and Korean short ribs. Hands down, the best korean short ribs I've ever had, and my wife's side of the family is asian!! Dont let the outside fool you, this place is legit!! Give it a shot, you wont be disappointed!!

One of those overlooked culinary gems! The menu is a fusion of Asian cuisines, but stick with the Korean end and you'll be quite happy with the result. Doesn't look like much on the outside, nor the inside, but who cares? The food was great and little old lady waiting on us was so sweet and kind. Had the chicken bibimbap and loved every bite! So sad I didn't stop off there sooner.

This is the absolute best Korean food in Albemarle County. I kick myself for passing this restaurant by so many times due to the exterior looking a little run down. The inside is extremely clean and tidy.The kimchi is out of this world good, as is the hot and sour soup. Stop driving by and wondering and just commit. You won’t be disappointed.

Stopped here on Thanksgiving night. We were the only ones in the main dining area. The place is definitely not promising from the outside but thf inside is nice enough. We had bulgogi, short ribs, egg rolls and chicken lo mein. The short ribs and bulgogi came with rice and an assortment of pickled vegetables. The kimchi and pickled radish was good. The chicken lo mein was excellent, different than what you'd get from Chinese takeout. Noodles were homemade.5 stars for a unique and memorable Thanksgiving.

If you've ever been to South Korea (and enjoyed your trip) you will love this place. Hands down. If you're stuck in VA due to Covid-19 and want to imagine you're traveling abroad, give it a try. Currently open for take-out only.

This is the BEST Korean food I have ever had in Charlottesville. It's cheap and soooo delicious!

Place was dismal, had dirty table cloth, and the one dish my wife wanted the scallop fried rice they didn't have scallops for. Pretty Far down the road from the main part of Charlottesville also. We didnt eat we left so cant comment on food quality.

From the outside it really does look sketchy, but when you go inside it looks so much better! The food was delicious. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because they don't have everything on the menu. Other than that it was really good.

Words can't express how muxh we enjoyed the food. Plan to sit and wait and enjoy your company because it takes time for authentic Korean food to be created. Thank you to cook for such a wonderful meal. We will be back!

4 stars for the food, our kimchi fried rice and steamed rice was soggy. Everything else we ordered was good. 5 stars for the experience! We turned on the karaoke and had so much fun, we didn't want to leave. I would go back here again!
